Insight is the foundation, but composure is the goal. I provide a grounded space to help you navigate life's complexities with a clearer perspective and a steadier hand.

About Me

Modern psychotherapy is about more than just talking; it is about building a clearer perspective together.

I’m Toby, an NCPS accredited therapist and the founder of Way of Mind. My practice is built on a foundation of clinical training, but its heart lies in a genuine desire to help others find the same clarity and resilience that I once had to seek for myself.

My path to this profession was born out of my own life challenges. I understand the weight of navigating through a period of "darkness"—that sense of being stuck or overwhelmed by patterns that feel impossible to break. It was through my own process of recovery and growth that I realised my purpose: to empower others to see a way through their own complexities. I don’t just offer therapy because I am trained in it; I offer it because I have seen firsthand that it works.

A Collaborative Approach to Growth

Before my clinical training, my professional life involved a period in the education sector and teaching mindfulness. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for the practical, grounded techniques that help us regain our composure and focus when life feels overwhelming. Today, I use that background to help my clients bridge the gap between deep-seated insight and tangible, daily change.

I often describe my work through the lens of my logo—the bonsai. Much like cultivating a tree, mental well-being requires patience, structured care, and the occasional need to "prune" away what is hindering growth. I see myself as a collaborative partner in your mental health, providing a professional male voice in therapy that is always focused on:

  • Rooted Insight: Identifying the core patterns and history that influence your present landscape.

  • Composure: Using physiological techniques to help you regulate stress and find a "steady" state in an often-unsteady world.

  • Intentionality: Ensuring that every session leaves you with a clearer sense of direction and the tools to navigate life’s complexities.

Why Choose This Approach?

In an industry that can often feel clinical or detached, I provide a perspective that is direct, objective, and deeply human. I aim to be a steady sounding board for my clients—offering an environment that is entirely confidential and non-judgemental, but also productive.

I am not here simply to listen, but to help you move beyond "coping" and towards a life that feels intentionally shaped by you, rather than dictated by your circumstances. I look forward to supporting you as you cultivate a clearer way of mind.

A Glimpse into our Work Together

Choosing to begin therapy is a significant step; it is important that you know how we will navigate that process. Here is what you can expect when you work with me:

A Straightforward Conversation: While my approach is rooted in clinical training, our sessions will feel like an open, honest dialogue between two equals. There is no complex jargon; we speak plainly about what is happening in your life.

Total Confidentiality: I provide a non-judgemental and secure space where you can speak freely about the issues affecting you, whether they stem from the past, the present, or concerns for your future.

Practical Tools for Daily Life: We do not just talk about the challenges you face; we identify the tools to manage them. I integrate grounded techniques to help you regulate stress and regain your composure when things feel overwhelming.

A Focus on Clarity: My goal is to equip you with the insights and resilience needed to handle life’s complexities independently. You will leave our sessions with a clearer sense of direction and a framework for intentional change.

Professional Integrity: As an accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society, I adhere to the highest ethical standards, ensuring you are treated with absolute respect, dignity, and care.
